You will provide daily leadership to Service Technicians while actively performing technical service work — calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of industrial weighing equipment — ensuring every job is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with CIS operational standards. Working closely with the Area Operations Leader, you drive daily execution, support technician development, reinforce service quality, and help deliver exceptional customer experience. This role is the primary field leadership resource for technicians and an important step in the CIS operations leadership career path. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The functions listed below are considered essential to this role. Safety Leadership Promote and reinforce a safety-first culture through leadership by example. Ensure technicians comply with all company safety policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards. Conduct field observations, identify hazards, and implement appropriate risk controls. Support incident investigations and corrective actions. Ensure required PPE, tools, and equipment are properly used and maintained. Field Service Execution Perform calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and installation of industrial weighing equipment and related systems. Work alongside technicians to support complex jobs and ensure efficient service delivery. Provide technical leadership and assist with difficult troubleshooting. Ensure technicians arrive prepared with proper tools, documentation, and equipment. Team Leadership & Development Lead and support Service Technicians in daily field operations. Coach technicians on technical skills, safety practices, customer interactions, and company expectations. Support onboarding, training, certifications, and technician development. Reinforce accountability for productivity, quality, professionalism, and attendance Provide regular performance feedback and development recommendations to the Area Operations Leader. Promote teamwork and a positive culture built around the CIS Core Values. Daily Operations Support daily execution of preventive maintenance, break/fix service, emergency response, and installation work. Own and maintain the branch service schedule, assigning and adjusting technician jobs to meet customer commitments and business priorities. Assist with technician coordination and schedule execution to meet customer commitments. Monitor workload and communicate resource needs to the Area Operations Leader. Ensure work orders are completed accurately and submitted timely. Verify service notes, labor reporting, compliance documentation, and customer signatures are complete. Customer Experience Develop and maintain strong customer relationships. Communicate professionally regarding work scope, progress, and completion. Assist in resolving customer concerns and escalate issues when appropriate. Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, repairs, preventative maintenance, and additional services, communicating opportunities to the Area Operations Leader and Sales team. Quality & Compliance Ensure service work meets CIS quality standards and customer expectations. Verify compliance with applicable weights and measures requirements, customer specifications, and regulatory standards. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on service quality and operational efficiency. Ownership & Accountability Demonstrate ownership of daily field execution and technician performance. Support branch productivity and service quality objectives. Reinforce accountability for customer satisfaction and operational excellence. Maintain all required certifications and licenses, including CDL when applicable.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Education High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or higher in electronics, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience. Experience Minimum five (5) years of industrial field service, maintenance, or related technical experience. Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring field technicians. Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical devices, including newer and rapidly evolving technology. Experience with new equipment installations. Experience working on construction sites and around heavy equipment preferred. Experience with safe lifting and rigging practices preferred. Preferred Previous supervisory or team lead experience. Experience with industrial weighing systems, related industrial equipment, or the weighing/metrology industry. Experience using service management, ERP, or mobile field service software. CDL or ability to obtain one; where a CDL is required for this role, a current DOT medical certification must also be obtained and maintained. Technical Skills Ability to calculate capacity, division size, and tolerances, and to convert measurements, to perform required customer calibrations. Ability to read digital and analog meters and weighing devices. Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical theory. Fully capable of reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language, in order to read safety protocols and calibration specifications and communicate clearly with customers and team members. Proficient with MS Office, ERP and CRM systems, and work order/service dispatch platforms. Comfortable working independently with little direct supervision, and equally effective leading and working within a team. Additional Requirements Must pass drug and background screening to meet CIS and customer requirements, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local law. Must obtain and maintain forklift certification in accordance with OSHA requirements. Willingness to work overtime as business needs require
