Field Service Diesel & Hydraulic Mechanic Travel:
Approximately 75% Throughout the Northeast United States Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Field Service Diesel & Hydraulic Mechanic to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of a diverse fleet of equipment throughout the Northeast region. This Field Service position is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong diesel engine, gasoline engine, and hydraulic system expertise who enjoys a combination of shop-based work and customer-facing Field Service responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Perform Field Service diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on diesel, gasoline, and small-engine powered equipment. Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and repairs to maximize equipment reliability and performance. Diagnose and repair hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and engine-related failures. Travel to customer and project locations to provide professional Field Service support and emergency repairs. Operate and maintain Field Service trucks, tools, diagnostic equipment, and mobile repair assets. Maintain accurate service reports, inspection records, repair documentation, and work orders. Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company safety standards, and customer site requirements. Support shop operations and equipment maintenance when not performing Field Service assignments. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to mechanics, technicians, and Field Service personnel. Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project teams to improve service quality and operational efficiency. Communicate directly with customers regarding equipment status, repair recommendations, and maintenance needs. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Valid Class A CDL required. Minimum of 5 years of experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel, gasoline, and small-engine equipment. Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and mechanical troubleshooting. Proven experience performing Field Service repairs, maintenance, and customer support. Previous leadership, supervisory, or crew lead experience. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Must reside within approximately 40 miles of Rock Tavern, NY. Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the Northeast region. Strong commitment to safety, customer service, and quality workmanship. Preferred Qualifications Experience with electrical diagnostics, controls, and troubleshooting. Welding and fabrication experience. Previous experience managing a maintenance department, service department, or Field Service team. Familiarity with DOT regulations, inspections, and compliance requirements. Experience supporting construction, drilling, heavy equipment, or industrial operations. Experience utilizing diagnostic software and electronic service tools. Travel Requirements Approximately 75% travel throughout the Northeast United States. Regular overnight travel required. Combination of customer site visits, Field Service assignments, and shop-based responsibilities. Opportunity to work independently while supporting a wide variety of equipment and customers. Physical Requirements Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in physically demanding environments. Ability to lift and carry heavy tools, parts, and equipment. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Capable of safely performing repairs in shop environments and remote Field Service locations. Position is classified as safety-sensitive. Schedule Minimum 40-hour workweek. Overtime opportunities available based on customer demand and project schedules. $48.00 - $54.00 per hour
