Remote Transformer Field Service Technician - (Eastern Region) Sunbelt Solomon United States, Tennessee, Decatur 201 Polymer Drive (Show on map) Jun 24, 2026 Sunbelt Solomon is a leading provider of electrical power solutions, delivering transformer services, testing, maintenance, repair, and asset lifecycle management for utilities, industrial facilities, data centers, power generation, and commercial customers across North America. Our team helps customers maximize the reliability, safety, and performance of critical power infrastructure. Position Summary The Field Service Technician is responsible for the repair, overhaul, testing, installation, and maintenance of low-, medium-, and high-voltage power transformers and related electrical equipment. This role performs both shop-based and field service work, supporting customer facilities throughout the Northeast region. The ideal candidate is a hands-on electrical professional with strong transformer experience, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently or lead field crews. Key Responsibilities Perform repairs, upgrades, maintenance, and overhauls on power transformers ranging from 480V to 765kV.
Support field testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical power distribution equipment.
Lead or assist with transformer installations, inspections, and outage-related projects.
Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams to resolve technical issues and ensure successful project execution.
Complete service reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
Adhere to all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field preferred.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in transformer installation, maintenance, testing, and repair.
3-5 years of experience in a lead technician, crew lead, or supervisory role preferred.
Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and transformer operations.
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to travel overnight as needed and work overtime and weekends during outage seasons.
