Tech Jrnymn (Power Gen-211) (3371) Hot Job New Braunfels, TX 78132 Apply Overview Position Type Full Time Apply Description Job purpose A Field /Generator Tech Journeyman is expected to work on generators/ transfer switches VHP/Industrial engines from oil changes to major repairs. Lead and train other technicians while performing assigned jobs. Promote good attitudes and aesthetics that are represented by WPI. Assist with job planning with Regional Field Service Manager for correct parts, tools, and equipment. Daily communication to the customer of progress or any special circumstances that have delayed the job in completing in the set time. Promote safe work practices and ensure that JSA and all HSE requirements for the job are followed. Keep your Regional Field Service Manager/Leaderman informed of job progression daily. Duties and responsibilities The Field Technician - Journeyman is responsible and accountable for, but not limited to, the following: Performs maintenance and repairs on generators and associated controls. Updates and reviews personal knowledge of all changes and variations of the generators and controls sold and serviced by WPI. Tag and turn in all warranty, or core part items for processing immediately upon completion of the job, including all unit information (i.e. serial #, location, customer, engine hours, etc.). Fill out detailed daily service ticket reports, review with customers, and have signed daily. Attends service schools and training programs offered by WPI. Perform tasks with minimal supervision. Responsible for the development of other technicians. Able to read schematics, blueprints, sketches, drawings, and specifications. Determines the best possible procedure to perform the job safely and effectively. Perform Innio Waukesha Service Bulletin upgrades as set by the factory. Inspects own work at each step checking tolerances and correct fit. Demonstrates excellent productivity for job tasks being performed. Complete all required paperwork including labor reporting and documentation of quality control and material movement. Work safely and maintain the work with high standards of housekeeping. Performs required Preventative Maintenance activities on machinery and/or equipment operated, air tools, air compressors, trucks, and cranes. LO/TO of every job assigned and reviewed with the crew. Must own basic tooling for the position, (open end and boxed end wrenches from 1/4 -2"), (3/8", 1/2 and 3/4" ratchet and socket sets), (Air impacts 3/8, 1/2, 3/4), (Screwdrivers sets), Hammers, sledges, and a fluke 87-volt ohm meter, at a minimum). Aid customers as requested. Other duties may be assigned by management. Qualifications Qualifications Must have 5 years of working on Generators, Industrial Engines (gas/diesel, etc). High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have a mechanical and/or electrical aptitude. Must have an aptitude to learn to read simple wiring schematics and learn to wire circuits. Has attended and passed the OEM Engine Specification and Design course or equivalent, relevant experience. Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that complies with WPI insurance requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of OEM equipment and proficiency in troubleshooting. Knowledge and experience in tooling. Advanced mechanical principles and mathematics. Blueprint & Schematic reading. Must be proficient in electrical diagnostics. Must be able to work on generators/engines from oil changes to major repairs. Must be proficient in computer skills (basic operation, Windows, and Micro Soft Office) Knowledge of electronic controls such as PLCs, Murphy panels, Altronic, and ESM. Must have supervisory and leadership skills. Must be proficient in using precision measuring tools. Truck crane operation experience. Must have the ability to work flexible hours and days. Keep service trucks, tools, and equipment in good working order.
