Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Field Service Controls Specialist - MAPPER to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex control systems used in industrial automation environments. The Mapper is responsible for executing both routine controls tasks as well as Dry Low Emissions (DLE) combustion mapping on power generation systems to ensure safe, compliant, and optimized operation. This role requires extensive hands-on controls and mapping background across major OEM platforms with the ability to work independently with no mapping training provided. The Mapper primarily supports new build and new installation projects, with some operations and maintenance (O&M) work as needed. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation of equipment and systems, delivering exceptional service to our customers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge control technologies, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, and industrial controls, while providing vital support in field service operations. Your proactive approach and technical proficiency will drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Install, calibrate, and commission control systems such as vision inspection systems, sensors, and distributed control systems (DCS) in various industrial settings. Executes DLE mapping jobs on power generating turbines across multiple OEM platforms, including GE, Siemens, Pratt & Whitney, and others. Analyzes combustion dynamics, emissions data (NOx/CO), fuel and air staging, and operating parameters to tune combustion and optimize turbine performance within OEM and site-specific limits. Perform removal, replacement, configuration, and calibration of control system components. Conduct comprehensive health checks on AVRs and control systems. Utilizes current OEM and third-party turbine control systems to execute mapping routines, load and adjust combustion schedules, and validate results. Troubleshoots combustion instability, lean blowout, temperature spread, and other mapping-related anomalies encountered in the field. Maintains accurate mapping data, service records, and inspection reports for each unit and submits them to internal teams and customers as required. Provides technical mapping expertise and recommendations to customers and internal teams; represents GESA as a knowledgeable, professional ambassador on customer sites. Analyze system alarms, fault logs, and operational data to determine root causes and corrective actions. Support commissioning, start-ups, and operational testing of control systems. Verify proper integration and communication between control systems, sensors, actuators, and auxiliary equipment. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using diagnostic tools like ohmmeters, multimeters, and precision measuring instruments. Read and interpret electrical schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), schematics, and electrical blueprints to diagnose system faults accurately. Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical components to ensure optimal system performance. Utilize programming skills in engineering environments to modify or develop control logic for PLCs and industrial automation systems such as Calypso. Conduct electrical safety procedures during installation and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety standards. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating technical information clearly and resolving issues efficiently in the field. Skills Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatic systems, electrical instrumentation, and industrial controls.
MAPPING EXPERIENCE
Proven experience with industrial electrician tasks including electrical diagnostics, troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, vision inspection systems, and distributed control systems (DCS). Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, schematics, and blueprints accurately. Skilled in using testing equipment such as ohmmeters and calibration tools for precise measurements. Experience with electrical safety procedures and low voltage systems in industrial environments. Proficiency in programming in engineering contexts and understanding of electrical systems integration. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on engineering troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and automation domains. Strong customer service orientation with effective communication skills for field service interactions.
