A Field Service Technician services and repairs equipment and machines in a variety of customer locations such as residential, commercial, or industrial settings. Workers in this field can specialize in the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of industrial, hardware, construction or electronic equipment just to name a few. These roles may work in a variety of remote locations and can travel up to multiple locations in a day.
Elements of the Role The role is responsible for installation, customer training, trouble shooting and repair of the company's CNC plasma, laser, router, waterjet, and oxyfuel cutting machines. Develop ability, through training, to install and troubleshoot all components of the company's complex 3 and 5- axis cutting machines including, but not limited to, chassis, frames, rails, bridge, tool carriages, mechanized motion systems, electronics and other integrated components. Use knowledge and ability to independently install, update, train and troubleshoot machine controls, nesting software, soft process logic control, electrical drives, and HMI software. Train customers and machine operators on machine use and general maintenance procedures. Provide best-in-class service and support to customers. Provide feedback to engineering and operation teams on error codes identified during service calls. Provide proactive maintenance advice to customers to enhance cutting machine reliability. Assist customers with troubleshooting and problem solving related to mechanical components and support systems of the company's cutting machines via phone. Requirements Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to travel up to 25% or more of the time and leave on (sometimes) short notice. Satisfactorily pass a background check. Pass a drug screening. Ideal Candidate Profile Above-average understanding of electrical circuitry, drives, motors, and automation controls. Experience with high-voltage or 3-phase electrical. Minimum 3 years' automation experience; 5 years preferred. Experience with CNC machining and troubleshooting and repair. Experience in servicing mechanized systems which utilize PLC or similar control software desired. Experience providing on-site and phone support desired. Proven ability to communicate complex concepts independently and effectively to customers or other team members. Ability to efficiently manage and maintain schedule. Positive attitude.
