Service Manager About Valley Tractor & Equipment Valley Tractor & Equipment is committed to providing exceptional equipment sales, service, and support to our agricultural and industrial customers. We are seeking an experienced, motivated Field Service Technician who takes pride in delivering quality repairs and outstanding customer service. Position Summary The Field Service Technician performs diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a wide variety of agricultural and construction equipment at customer locations. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while representing Valley Tractor & Equipment in a professional manner.
Equipment serviced includes:
Orchard Tractors Various orchard implements (sprayers, 3pt mower & flail mowers Compact excavators & Skid steers Tractor loader backhoes (TLBs) Compact & Utility tractors Annual orchard H2A vehicle DOT inspections Essential Responsibilities Travel to customer locations to diagnose equipment issues and perform repairs in company provided service truck. Inspect, test, and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical systems. Perform preventative maintenance, including fluid changes, lubrication, inspections, and adjustments. Repair or replace defective components to manufacturer specifications. Disassemble and reassemble equipment safely and efficiently. Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper operation. Accurately document diagnostics, repairs performed, labor hours, and recommended repairs on work orders. Communicate findings and repair recommendations with customers and Service Management. Maintain service truck, tools, and equipment in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Follow dealership and manufacturer repair procedures and quality standards. Complete repairs with minimal supervision while meeting productivity expectations. Participate in factory and dealership training to maintain technical certifications and expand product knowledge. Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Represent Valley Tractor & Equipment professionally while working on customer job sites. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED. Experience servicing agricultural, diesel, industrial, construction, or heavy equipment. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components. Ability to diagnose equipment failures and perform repairs independently. Own the basic tools required for the position. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Basic computer skills for completing electronic work orders and service documentation. Ability to work overtime as needed during peak seasons. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Preferred Technical training or certification in diesel technology, heavy equipment repair, agricultural equipment, or related field. Experience working on compact construction or agricultural equipment. Previous dealership service experience. Adapts well to changing priorities while on field calls Physical Requirements This position regularly requires: Standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and climbing. Lifting, carrying, or moving up to 50 pounds. Working around heavy machinery and moving mechanical parts. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Exposure to dust, fumes, grease, hydraulic fluids, and diesel exhaust. Working in a high-noise environment. Operating forklifts and other shop equipment as needed. Visual ability to inspect equipment, read service manuals, and operate computers.
