Job Description
Maintenance Technician - Job Description The Port Hotel and Marina The Maintenance Technician at The Port Hotel and Marina is responsible for assisting with the operation, maintenance, service, and repair of equipment and property systems as assigned. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Handyman to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background, the ability to maintain and repair a variety of equipment and facilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and guest service. Compensation is based on prior experience, trade skills, certifications, and the ability to provide the tools and equipment necessary to complete routine maintenance tasks. Duties & Responsibilities Perform general maintenance tasks including plumbing, minor electrical repairs, carpentry, painting, and general handyman work. Fabricate, repair, and maintain fixtures, furniture, equipment, and appliances as needed. Participate in the hotel's preventative maintenance program. Perform tasks safely and efficiently while maintaining company standards. Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment in guest rooms, public spaces, marina areas, and hotel facilities. Maintain the overall appearance and cleanliness of the property, including picking up trash, debris, and other items from parking areas, grounds, marina areas, walkways, and common spaces. Remove trash and assist with transporting and disposing of garbage as needed to help maintain a clean and professional property appearance. Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests and work orders. Communicate effectively with guests, co-workers, supervisors, housekeeping, and front desk staff. Ensure all fire, life safety, and maintenance inspections are completed and any deficiencies corrected promptly. Monitor maintenance tools, supplies, and inventory levels. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas. Coordinate with the General Manager regarding maintenance needs, supplies, repairs, and project updates. Carry and maintain the tools and equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks. Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications Proven mechanical knowledge with hands-on maintenance and repair experience. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to remain calm and react quickly in emergency situations. Basic maintenance skills required. Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment. Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly. Strong guest-service mindset and professional demeanor. Must be at least 18 years old. Must possess a valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Technical, trade, or vocational school training preferred. Candidates with their own tools and equipment preferred. Licensed or certified in a trade preferred (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.). Minimum of 2 years of related maintenance experience. Prior experience in hotels, apartments, marinas, or related hospitality environments preferred.
