Overview Join our dynamic team as a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic and become a vital part of maintaining and repairing a wide range of construction, industrial, and farm machinery. In this energetic role, you will troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment on-site at various job locations, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our fleet running smoothly, supporting large-scale projects and operations with precision and efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) equipment and develop your skills across diverse machinery types. Duties Conduct comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy construction machinery such as excavators, cranes, bulldozers, and loaders. Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, and hydraulic system servicing to prevent downtime. Troubleshoot electrical systems, engine issues, transmissions, suspensions, and air brake systems using schematics and diagnostic tools. Fabricate parts or modifications as needed using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to ensure equipment longevity. Assist in assembly, disassembly, and testing of heavy equipment components to meet OEM specifications. Diagnose complex mechanical problems involving diesel engines, HVAC systems, electrical diagnostics, and suspension components. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repair status and maintenance needs while ensuring safety standards are upheld during all operations. Qualifications Proven experience working as a heavy equipment mechanic or service technician with dealership or industrial backgrounds. Strong mechanical knowledge of construction machinery maintenance including excavator operation and troubleshooting. Proficiency in electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, schematics reading, and equipment troubleshooting techniques. Hands-on experience with fabrication, welding, soldering, tire service, and heavy lifting tasks. Familiarity with OEM parts catalogs for Caterpillar or similar brands; experience with diesel engine repair is highly desirable. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and vehicle maintenance tools effectively. Valid certifications in diesel engine diagnostics, air brake systems, HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning), electrical systems or related fields are preferred.
