84 Hours/Week Brief Description Under the supervision of the Service Manager, this position is responsible for the repair, service, and maintenance of Heavy Duty and Medium Duty equipment in Deadhorse, Alaska. This could include troubleshooting and repairing diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical equipment. In addition, maintenance and repair operations will be conducted in both a shop and outdoor environment - the ladder from a service truck. This position will be required to perform preventative maintenance services as well. Detailed Description Perform a variety of skilled duties which may include inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on Heavy/Medium Duty rental equipment in various shop/field locations. Service equipment as required to ensure the proper operating condition at the job location. Operate equipment such as forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulic and electric tools, as well as other related tools and equipment. Maintain inventory on service truck as well as the inventory used on locations. Complete all required documentation including timesheets, checklists, orders, etc. Clean and maintain the service truck as necessary to maintain a safe work environment. Conduct preventative maintenance as required to ensure MagTec's standards of high quality equipment is met at all times. Meet all company, government, and equipment related safety requirements. Check equipment for damage, record hours used, mileage, and fuel levels. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude. Must have computer skills necessary to use diagnostic tools and internal database. Have the ability to read and interpret specifications and equipment manuals. Able to diagnose and repair a wide variety of mechanical and electrical equipment. Exhibit a high level of safety consciousness and a clear understanding of equipment safety. minimum three (3) years of experience as a mechanic, preferable in a related field. Verified welding certification or equivalent documented welding experience required. Advanced knowledge of shore power systems, including connection, isolation, and troubleshooting. Proficiency with generator systems up to 240V AC; knowledge of diesel/gas generator operation beyond 240V a plus. Strong understanding of electrical safety, high-voltage systems, and lockout/tagout procedures. Expertise in mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and pumps. Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex schematics and service documentation. Have the ability to work alone or work in a team environment. Ability to work well with minimal direction from supervisor. Valid Class A CDL with clean driving record required. Must pass DOT physical, drug, and alcohol screening.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position requires working outdoors in Arctic field environments under extreme weather conditions. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods. Rotational schedules and extended work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required to support 24-hour operations.
