Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dependable and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Operator to join our excavation and underground utilities team operating a wide range of construction machinery and repairs that keep operations running smoothly. Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Equipment Operator Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy construction machinery, including excavators, dozers, etc. Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, and hydraulic system servicing to ensure optimal equipment performance. Operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently on job sites, including excavators, and other construction machinery. Troubleshoot electrical systems, diesel engines, transmissions, HVAC systems, and more Maintain inspection checklists to track equipment status and repairs. Skills Proven experience with heavy equipment mechanics, including troubleshooting and repairing construction machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including hydraulics, diesel engine diagnostics, electrical diagnostics and more. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering tools, and diagnostic software for electrical systems. Experience with equipment operation such as excavators or tractor-trailers is highly desirable. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on equipment troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in various outdoor environments; familiarity with tire service and heavy lifting techniques is preferred.
