With locations in Petaluma, San Rafael & now in San Mateo, Cal-West Rentals delivers rental equipment, all over the greater Bay Area and beyond. Who we're looking for Cal-West Rentals is seeking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to help keep our rental fleet operating at its best. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician who enjoys diagnosing challenging issues, working on a variety of equipment, and taking ownership of their craft. In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet that includes heavy construction equipment, aerial lifts, generators, light towers, and other rental assets. Your work will help ensure equipment is dependable, safe, and ready when our customers need it. If you are interested, please follow the link below to apply directly via our website: https://www.calwestrentals.com/open-positions/ What you'll do Diagnose and repair diesel, hydraulic, electrical, drivetrain, fuel, and cooling system issues. Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to maximize equipment uptime and reliability. Utilize diagnostic software, service manuals, and schematics to identify and resolve equipment problems. Repair or replace components such as engines, transmissions, pumps, cylinders, hoses, valves, brakes, and electrical systems. Inspect returned equipment, identify repair needs, and document findings. Test equipment to verify functionality and safety before returning it to service. Complete work orders, service records, parts requests, and inspection reports accurately. Communicate equipment status and repair timelines with management. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment. To stand out you'll need to Be at least 21 years of age. Possess a valid California driver's license with a clean driving record. 3+ years of experience repairing heavy equipment, construction equipment, or related machinery. Strong understanding of diesel-powered equipment and hydraulic and electrical systems. Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals, and hydraulic schematics Ability to safely operate heavy equipment. CDL is a plus Demonstrate fluency in English, both spoken and written. Work efficiently with minimal supervision. Maintain a strong focus on safety. Be physically capable of frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 70 pounds. Regularly perform physical tasks such as walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing. Adapt to working both indoors and outdoors under varying weather conditions, with and without climate control. Compensation and benefits Competitive pay ranging from $32.00 - $40.00 per hour DOE Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
