Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment to ensure optimal operational performance. Your expertise will keep our fleet running smoothly, minimize downtime, and support our operational excellence. Responsibilities Perform detailed inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals and schematics. Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, brake repairs, transmission servicing, hydraulic system repairs, suspension adjustments, and tire services. Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, and power tools to ensure equipment functions safely and efficiently. Diagnose electrical issues involving wiring harnesses, sensors, relays, and control modules utilizing automotive diagnostics tools. Repair diesel engines, HVAC systems, air brakes, alignments, and other critical systems to maintain compliance with safety standards. Assist in the assembly of new equipment or parts following manufacturer specifications and safety protocols. Operate heavy machinery safely during repair procedures while adhering to all safety guidelines and industry best practices. Skills Proven experience working with dealership service departments or industrial equipment repair shops. Strong mechanical knowledge of Caterpillar (CAT), OEM components, farm machinery, and other heavy-duty equipment. Skilled in reading schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams for troubleshooting complex issues. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and heavy lifting techniques. Experience with automotive repair including transmissions, brakes, tire service, and vehicle maintenance. Knowledge of hydraulics systems, suspension components, HVAC systems on heavy machinery, and diesel engine repair. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as excavators or forklift trucks safely during maintenance tasks. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
