Job Description

A long-established tree care and land clearing operation is hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Wilmington, DE for shop and field repairs. Duties & Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues on heavy equipment used in tree care and land clearing operations. Perform preventive maintenance, oil changes, fluid checks, track adjustments, safety inspections, and routine servicing. Rebuild, replace, and repair major components including engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, and electrical systems. Complete occasional road and field service repairs, troubleshoot issues on site, communicate repair needs clearly, and follow repairs through completion. Maintain a diverse fleet that includes newer leased machines and well-maintained older equipment. Use diagnostic tools and a digital shop management system to document repairs, parts, maintenance records, and work hours.
Requirements Required:
3+ years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or similar equipment repair technician. Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical components. Working knowledge of hydraulics, electrical schematics, and diesel engine diagnostics. Experience performing preventive maintenance, inspections, component repairs, and major equipment overhauls. Ability to work independently, stay on task, communicate repair needs clearly, and complete repairs with minimal supervision. Must provide a comprehensive set of personal hand tools for heavy equipment repair. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Able to lift up to 75 lbs, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and handle the physical demands of heavy equipment repair.
Preferred:
CDL Class A or B is a major plus. ASE certifications, trade school training, or factory training from brands such as CAT, John Deere, or Komatsu are highly preferred. #SJ1
Compensation:
$35.00•$45.00/hour based on experience and qualifications
