Field Mechanic

Southern Development & Construction, Inc (SDC) was established 1994 and is a growing private contractor concentrating in complete site development services (underground utility, earthwork and paving) in the Central Florida area for subdivisions, apartments, commercial and public projects.

HEAVY EQUIPMENT FIELD MECHANIC

5+ year experience in similar position doing major repairs to Construction equipment such as Dozers, Excavators, Graders, Backhoes, Heavy Truck, Skid Steers, etc.. Must have Strong Diagnostic abilities and be able to use diagnostic and parts ordering equipment. Must have experience with electrical and hydraulic systems. Diesel Technology school completion is a plus but not a requirement. Previous equipment dealership employment and training is preferred.

Skills:

Extensive knowledge of Gas and Diesel Engine Systems and how they operate Understand electrical systems in heavy equipment and be able to trouble shoot/diagnose issues Must have experience in welding, preferable technical school training Must be able to communicate effectively with project managers and provide accurate equipment status updates on an as need basis Must have valid Driver's license and clean MVR E-verify required Experience in heavy equipment service both shop and roadside. 5+ years' experience in Heavy Equipment Service Tracked Excavators, wheel loaders, heavy equipment Completes new and complicated tasks from verbal instructions under minimum supervision Preferred certifications:

Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Welding Physical Requirements:

Standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, bending, reaching, climbing over and under equipment. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Position requires stretching, twisting, and ability to lift approx. 50 lbs. repetitively.
