Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Cape Canaveral. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy machinery, including construction, industrial, and farm equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in diagnostics, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of equipment critical to our operations, supporting ongoing projects and maintenance schedules with precision and professionalism. Able to work 6x12s or 7x12s when needed. Industrial experience required. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, bulldozers, forklifts, and other construction machinery using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications. Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, brake repairs, and hydraulic system servicing to maximize equipment uptime. Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding and hand tools to address specific repair requirements or custom modifications. Troubleshoot electrical systems, including wiring, sensors, and control modules utilizing schematics and electrical diagnostics tools. Repair transmissions, diesel engines, air brake systems, suspension components, HVAC systems, and steering mechanisms to ensure safety and compliance with industry standards. Utilize power tools and heavy lifting equipment safely during repairs or assembly processes while adhering to safety protocols. Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed and parts replaced for accountability and future reference. Qualifications Proven experience working with heavy equipment in dealership settings or industrial environments with a focus on construction machinery maintenance. Strong mechanical knowledge of OEM systems across various brands such as Caterpillar and other major manufacturers. Skilled in electrical diagnostics, hydraulic troubleshooting, welding, fabrication, and schematics interpretation. Familiarity with farm machinery, tractor-trailers, industrial equipment, and construction machinery servicing is highly desirable. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic software necessary for effective repairs. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in physically demanding environments. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with customer service orientation to communicate effectively with clients or team members regarding repairs or maintenance needs.
