Job Description

The Plantation Course at Kapalua, located in Lahaina, HI, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for an Assistant Mechanic ! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast‑paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you'll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.
General Purpose:
Performs major and mechanical repairs on various gasoline, diesel and electric power equipment; keeps all equipment in efficient and operable condition at all times. Organizes and maintains a clean and safe area and maintenance area; performs related tasks as required.
Essential Duties:
Inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in many types of various types of equipment. Performs machining or welding work in making fittings etc. used in repair of maintenance equipment and may also fabricate parts. Maintains records of preventative maintenance, repairs made, parts ordered. Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus. Skilled in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools and in the making of various types of mechanical repairs. Knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines, electric equipment and hydraulic systems. Diagnoses mechanical troubles and schedules appropriate preventative maintenance work. Helps to control costs and expenses in the maintenance of the equipment fleet relating to parts purchases, inventory levels, service work. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. Regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as required. Performs work involving the repair and overhaul of a variety of automotive equipment incidental to its primary assignment; may supervise others. Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve. Independently working to assess and repair equipment appropriately. Ensure all equipment complies with safety standards and regulations. Adhere to safety protocols while operating equipment and tools.
Education/Experience:
Certificate from college or technical school; or up to 3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience. Must own hand tools
Physical Demands:
Frequently stands and walks; uses hands; reaches with hands and arms; stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Occasionally sits, climbs or balances. Regularly talks or hears. Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally may lift up to 100 pounds.
Environment/Noise:
Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather); with toxic or caustic materials; in extreme cold or heat (non-weather); may experience vibration. Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and may face the risk of electrical shock or encounter fumes or airborne pathogens. Frequently works in areas near moving mechanical parts. Noise level is loud.
Certificates/Licenses:
Valid Driver's License, Class 3 License Mechanics Certificate from Gas and Diesel Engine Training Seminar or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience.
