What We're Looking for: We are seeking dependable Chassis Mechanics to support our growing operations in Wilmington, IL and Elwood, IL. In this role, you will perform inspections, maintenance, and mechanical repairs on chassis equipment in a rail yard environment.

Overtime Available Pay Range:
Between $18-$27 depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
Perform FMCSA-compliant chassis inspections Diagnose and repair chassis components, including brakes, lights, suspensions, air systems, and structural components. Perform light container repairs as needed. Mount, dismount, and replace tires as required. Weld, cut, and fabricate parts for chassis repairs when necessary. Maintain inventory and organization of parts and supplies Complete repairs according to IEP and industry standards. Accurately document inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities. Follow all company safety policies and procedures to prevent injuries and property damage. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening. Must pass a background check and meet railroad security clearance requirements. Must possess a valid driver's license or be able to obtain one. Ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform other physically demanding tasks. Must be willing and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills required. Must provide basic hand tools necessary to perform job duties. Must be willing to wear and properly utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, and other safety gear as required. Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in chassis, trailer, diesel, or heavy equipment repair. Welding and fabrication experience. Knowledge of FMCSA inspection requirements and intermodal equipment standards. Experience working in a railroad, intermodal, or transportation environment. Physical Demands Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing. Regular lifting, carrying, and moving of materials weighing up to 75 pounds. Ability to work safely around moving equipment and in an active terminal environment.
Pay:
$18.00 - $27.00 per hour
