Job Description

Power Crane Mechanics performs a variety of tasks related to the upkeep, repair, and safety of overhead cranes and other lift equipment, such as side loaders and chassis stackers by performing preventative and emergency maintenance. Duties include identifying problems, performing inspections, doing maintenance work, ordering and replacing parts, running computerized tests, estimating repair costs, updating repair records, and writing technical reports They ensure that these large and complex pieces of machinery are in optimal condition for safe and efficient operation.
Crane Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections of cranes to identify any potential problems or hazards Repairing or replacing damaged or worn-out crane parts Conducting safety assessments and ensuring that cranes comply with national and company safety standards Carrying out preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns and increase longevity of cranes Troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical problems Documenting maintenance and repair work, including details of issues identified and actions taken Communicating with crane operators to understand any issues they may be experiencing Staying updated on the latest maintenance procedures and equipment technology Ordering parts and supplies necessary for maintenance work Providing training and guidance to junior technicians and apprentices Inspect equipment for damage or failures, perform diagnostics and repair service for equipment component failures Remove and replace damaged or defective components, and operate support equipment including forklifts, man lifts and service trucks Clean the shop area and perform stocking functions All work done must be done in a safe and efficient manner.
Qualifications:
All Crane Diesel Mechanics will have working knowledge of air brake systems, diesel engine diagnostics using Insite, hydraulic systems, electronic controls, electrical circuitry, schematics, and basic knowledge of diesel engine repair. Basic Welding Possess the ability to diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment Test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions Read and interpret diagnostic test results from diagnostic equipment such as Cummins Insite Previous experience using hydraulic jacks or hoists to raise trucks, and heavy parts or equipment. Previous experience inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other parts of vehicles Ability to lift 50lbs Possess personal Mechanic tools Experience with maintaining heavy equipment in either the Construction, Transportation, or Intermodal Industry Mi-Jack or Taylor Manufacture Brand experience a plus. Able to document repairs according to an established reporting system, verbally and in writing Performs light welding when required Other duties as assign Must be willing to complete a drug screen, physical and background check
Physical Job Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, balancing while walking on elevated catwalks, bending, and grasping. Occasional sitting, kneeling, squatting, twisting, reaching, lifting and the ability to lift more than 50lbs.
