Avon, IN Join the Parsec Team We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair the equipment that keeps our operations running safely and efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically inclined professional who takes pride in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment in a fast-paced transportation and logistics environment. No two days are the same. You'll work on a variety of equipment, including heavy lift equipment, trucks, trailers, and other operational machinery, while helping minimize downtime and maximize equipment performance. What You'll Do Equipment Maintenance & Repair Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy equipment and vehicles. Inspect equipment for damage, wear, and component failures. Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, suspension, brake, and air systems. Repair or replace damaged and defective components. Perform diesel engine diagnostics using Cummins INSITE or similar diagnostic software. Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety standards. Test drive vehicles and equipment as needed to diagnose malfunctions. Perform light welding repairs when required. Documentation & Inventory Maintain accurate digital and paper maintenance records. Document inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities. Order and track parts, supplies, and equipment needs. Communicate equipment status and repair needs with management and operations personnel. Shop & Safety Responsibilities Operate support equipment, including forklifts, man lifts, and service trucks. Maintain a clean and organized shop environment. Follow all company safety procedures and policies. Perform all work in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. Complete other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Skills & Experience Working knowledge of: Air brake systems Diesel engine diagnostics Hydraulic systems Electronic controls Electrical circuitry and schematics Diesel engine repair Ability to diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, brake, suspension, and air systems. Basic welding experience. Experience using hydraulic jacks, hoists, and heavy-duty shop equipment. Experience inspecting and repairing engines, transmissions, steering systems, and brake systems. Ability to read and interpret diagnostic reports and repair manuals. Ability to document repairs both verbally and in writing. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. Must provide and maintain personal mechanic tools. Preferred Experience Experience in any of the following is a plus: Construction equipment maintenance Transportation and logistics equipment maintenance Intermodal or rail yard equipment maintenance Mi-Jack equipment Taylor equipment Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, grasping, and balancing on elevated catwalks. Occasional sitting, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and reaching. Ability to regularly lift and move 50+ pounds. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
