Job Description

Job Title:
Forklift Mechanic Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Forklift Mechanic for the 1st shift to handle both preventative and reactive maintenance on forklifts, scissor lifts, and other material handling equipment. You will manage a fleet of 20 propane forklifts and 2 electric forklifts, focusing primarily on reactive maintenance. This role requires you to perform tasks such as changing starters, alternators, and conducting basic electrical troubleshooting on various components. You must be adept at diagnosing issues and executing repairs to ensure equipment is operational. The electric units, being under warranty, will only require preventative maintenance checks. Occasionally, you may need to commute between plants using a company vehicle, so a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is essential. Responsibilities Perform weekly preventative maintenance checks on forklifts. Conduct reactive maintenance including changing starters, alternators, and troubleshooting electrical components. Diagnose and repair issues to ensure equipment is functional. Perform brake jobs and hydraulic line repairs. Complete preventative maintenance on electric forklifts under warranty. Travel between plants as needed using a company vehicle. Essential Skills 3-5+ years of industrial forklift maintenance experience. Mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills for propane forklifts. Electrical troubleshooting and repair skills using tools such as voltmeters. Valid driver's license with a clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with facility or grounds maintenance is beneficial. Experience in a union environment is preferred. Strong team player with a positive attitude.
