Job Description
About the Role We're looking for a skilled heavy equipment mechanic to join our Columbus team. The mechanic will be working on diesel engines, excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, and other heavy machinery and trucks. Work is based out of our Columbus shop but will require some field work as well. Responsibilities Diagnose, service, and repair diesel engines, excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, and other heavy excavation equipment Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on trucks and heavy machinery Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems utilizing a diagnostic computer Travel to job sites to complete on-site repairs as needed Transport materials, parts, and equipment to and from job sites when repair work isn't required Maintain accurate service and repair records Keep shop and work areas clean, organized, and safe Qualifications Proven experience as a diesel mechanic Hands-on experience working on heavy machinery (excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, and similar equipment) and trucks Willingness to work both in the field and out of our Columbus shop Willingness to drive materials/equipment to and from job sites as needed Valid driver's license required Commercial Driver's License (CDL) a plus, but not required Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage time across shop and field assignments
