AM Summary:
Are you interested in mechanics and working on heavy equipment and vehicles? Spend your summer gaining hands-on experience while exploring career opportunities in the mechanical industry and serving your community while you get paid! As a Mechanic Service Technician Intern with the Municipal Services and Operations Department, you'll work alongside experienced technicians to learn the skills needed to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment and vehicles. With up to 900 hours available, this internship is a great opportunity to build your skills, gain industry knowledge, and learn more about a career in equipment and vehicle maintenance.
Responsibilities:
Practices and promotes safe work habits, following company policies and safety regulations Assists experienced technicians with diagnostics in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, repairs, and maintenance of heavy equipment Continuously learns to interpret technical documents, such as schematics, service manuals, and inspection reports Observes experienced technicians to learn how to properly order parts, complete service documents, and perform repair processes Completes assigned tasks accurately and efficiently while demonstrating a willingness to learn Maintains a clean and organized work area, including shop tools and equipment Attend training sessions, toolbox talks, and team meetings Consistent and reliable on-site attendance Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have an interest in learning about mechanics and career opportunities within the field. Must be at least 18 years of age to apply. High school diploma or equivalent or currently enrolled as a student. A valid driver's license is preferred.
