Full Job Description Core Responsibilities:

Diagnostic Troubleshooting:

Pinpointing mechanical, electrical, and computer system faults using diagnostic software.

Hydraulic Repairs:

Servicing complex hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, and hoses.

Engine Overhauls:

Repairing and rebuilding large diesel engines.

Powertrain Maintenance:

Servicing transmissions, torque converters, differentials, and final drives.

Undercarriage & Brake Service:

Replacing tracks, rollers, sprockets, and heavy-duty braking systems.

Paving System Calibration:

Adjusting specialized screeds, heating elements, and sensors on asphalt pavers.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Degrees (Preferred): An associate degree or certificate in heavy equipment technology, diesel mechanics or experience equivalent. Certifications (Preferred): Manufacturer-specific credentials (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere) and ASE heavy truck certifications or experience equivalent.

System Knowledge:

Deep understanding of blueprints, hydraulic schematics, and electrical diagrams. Commercial Driver's License (CDL): Required for Field Service Technicians to drive heavy service trucks to job sites.

Primary Machinery Serviced:

Earthmoving Equipment:

Bulldozers, excavators, wheel loaders, skid steers, motor graders, and backhoes.

Paving Equipment:

Asphalt pavers, road reclaimers, cold planers (milling machines), and pneumatic rollers, road brooms.

Compaction Machinery:

Soil compactors and tandem vibratory rollers.
