Traveling Heavy Equipment Mechanic Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour (based on experience)Job Type:

Travel-Based (SC, TN, VA, KY, WV) About JP Technical Services JP Technical Services supports mining, construction, and industrial operations with high-level mechanical repair, welding, heavy haul, and parts services. We're known for fast response, clean work, and getting big iron back in service with minimal downtime. We're expanding our field service team and looking for experienced traveling heavy equipment mechanics who are comfortable working on the road and solving problems in the field. Position Overview This is a traveling field mechanic role for experienced heavy equipment technicians capable of diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding mining and construction equipment at customer sites. Technicians travel job-to-job across multiple states and represent JP Tech with professionalism, urgency, and craftsmanship. Regions Covered South Carolina Tennessee Virginia Kentucky West Virginia Technicians may live anywhere within or near these regions. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair dozers, excavators, haul trucks, loaders, graders, drills, and support equipment Perform hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting Complete component replacements, rebuilds, and field repairs Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance Manage service truck, tools, and parts inventory Communicate repair findings with dispatch and customers Follow all safety procedures (MSHA environments when applicable) Qualifications 3+ years of heavy equipment mechanic experience required Strong hydraulic, electrical, and diesel troubleshooting skills Comfortable working independently in the field Must be willing and able to travel regularly Valid driver's license with clean driving record Class B CDL required MSHA certification is required Compensation & Benefits $25-$35/hr based on experience 401(k) with company match Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance Paid time off Company service truck or travel rig (role dependent) Paid travel, hotels, and per diem Why JP Tech Steady pipeline of industrial and mining work High-skill jobs, not oil changes Field-focused culture that respects experience Room to grow as the company expands Apply Today If you're an experienced heavy equipment mechanic who likes the road, works well independently, and takes pride in quality repairs, we want to talk.
