Job Description
Overview We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment and machinery. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is operational and safe for use. Responsibilities Perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery. Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on industrial equipment to ensure optimal performance. Utilize schematics and OEM specifications to troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively. Execute repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC components. Operate heavy equipment as needed for testing and troubleshooting purposes. Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on vehicles and equipment. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding service needs and recommendations. Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently while adhering to safety protocols. Engage in fabrication tasks as required to support repair efforts. Qualifications Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment or automotive repair is essential. Familiarity with various types of machinery including Caterpillar products, tractor-trailers, and industrial equipment is preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge encompassing electrical systems, automotive diagnostics, brake repair, alignment, welding, soldering, and assembly skills. Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools necessary for repair tasks. Experience in heavy lifting as well as tire service is required. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and OEM documentation effectively. Previous dealership experience or service technician experience is a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with a commitment to safety standards in the workplace.
