Shop Mechanic Technician Job Description The Shop Mechanic Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of equipment, primarily flooring equipment, including pumps, generators, air compressors, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment. This role involves diagnosing complex equipment problems while adhering to all safety protocols, ensuring that equipment is in good working order for rental customers without downtime. Responsibilities Service and oversee major repairs of all types of equipment to ensure proper working condition when leaving the shop. Dismantle and reassemble/rebuild equipment and fabricate parts as required to meet shop and customer needs. Diagnose complex mechanical equipment problems and conduct preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs and downtime. Perform safety inspections on equipment and maintain a clean and safe shop work environment. Provide support to other mechanics engaged in equipment repairs or maintenance and assess the time and cost of repairs. Specialize in specific types of large equipment in large Profit Centers. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager. Essential Skills Experience with mechanical assembly and repair of equipment. Proficiency in using hand and power tools. Ability to troubleshoot and perform electrical maintenance up to 480 volts. Knowledge of diesel engines, pumps, generators, and preventive maintenance. Mechanically inclined with an understanding of schematics and blueprints. At least one recent year of working on construction equipment such as excavators, backhoes, aerial lifts, trucks, generators, and pumps. Additional Skills & Qualifications Military experience is a plus. Great attitude and reliability. Self-starter and open to learning/training. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work in an indoor shop environment during 1st shift hours, with day hours only. This is a temporary position for six months. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of New Orleans, LA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
