Position:
Heavy Equipment Mechanic -
Baton Rouge, LA Main Purpose:
Maintain and repair a variety of construction equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems. Assist in the training of B and C level mechanics.
Required Skills:
3-5 years of experience in the heavy/mobile equipment repair industry. Knowledge of all aspects of heavy and/or mobile equipment. Familiarity with gas and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics. Capability to perform tasks independently. Must have own hand tools. Basic computer skills. Valid driver's license.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Main Responsibilities:
Read diagrams, schematic drawings, and service manuals on equipment. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment. Repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components. Maintain knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems through ongoing training, industry workshops, and technical reading. Carry out preventative maintenance programs for mobile equipment. Observe competitive activities and contribute to the company's image and reputation. Manage and maintain assigned tools and equipment. Follow driving guidelines for assigned company vehicles. Identify and request replacement parts to perform repairs. Complete all paperwork thoroughly and in a timely manner. Understand and comply with Sparrows Offshore's Quality Policy and all requirements of the Quality System manual. Comply with all Safety and Environmental requirements. Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
