Job Overview Tractor & Equipment Technician Southern Trailer Works is seeking an experienced, full-time Tractor & Equipment Technician to join our team. We are a privately and locally owned business located in Schriever, Louisiana, specializing in the sales and service of farm tractors, equipment trailers, and lawn equipment. Position Summary This is a hands-on technician position responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining tractors and farm equipment ranging from 20 HP to 250 HP . The ideal candidate is self-motivated, dependable, mechanically skilled, and able to accurately diagnose equipment problems and complete repairs independently. The position will also include assembling farm implements and lawn equipment, performing pre-delivery inspections, and assisting with lawnmower repairs as needed.
Pay:
Hourly pay plus bonuses, based on experience and qualifications. Primary Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain tractors, farm equipment, heavy equipment, and industrial machinery. Perform repairs using technical manuals, service information, schematics, and diagnostic equipment. Complete approved repairs as directed by the Service Manager. Identify and recommend additional repairs or maintenance that may be needed. Accurately complete work orders, including a detailed description of work performed. Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on equipment before it is delivered to customers. Assemble farm implements and attachments. Assemble lawnmowers and lawn equipment. Perform lawnmower repairs and maintenance as needed. Learn and utilize manufacturer-specific diagnostic tools and computer systems. Types of Repairs Tractor and equipment repairs may include, but are not limited to: Engine repair and rebuilds Electrical diagnostics and repairs Hydraulic system repairs Clutch replacement Loader and attachment repairs PTO repairs Transmission repairs Preventive maintenance and service Qualifications & Skills 5+ years of experience as a diesel, tractor, or equipment mechanic preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience working with tractors and farm equipment. Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines. Working knowledge of hydraulic systems. Working knowledge of 12-volt electrical systems. Ability to read and follow parts, hydraulic, and wiring schematics. Basic computer skills and the ability to learn manufacturer diagnostic software. Ability to troubleshoot problems and accurately determine necessary repairs. Ability to safely lift and handle heavy equipment and components. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Expectations Take ownership and accountability for all work performed. Complete service work accurately, efficiently, and professionally. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude. Work effectively as part of a team and assist coworkers when needed. Attend manufacturer training and travel out of town for training when required.
