Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will help keep our operations running smoothly, supporting various sectors such as construction, demolition, and transportation. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial equipment using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals and schematics. Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, brake repairs, transmission servicing, and hydraulic system troubleshooting. Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to ensure equipment longevity and safety. Inspect and repair diesel engines, air brake systems, suspension components, HVAC systems, electrical wiring, and hydraulic systems to maintain operational efficiency. Utilize heavy lifting techniques safely when handling large components or equipment during repairs or assembly processes. Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed; ensure compliance with safety standards and OEM specifications. Assist in the calibration of equipment alignment and perform heavy equipment operation when required for testing or troubleshooting. Qualifications Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment repair in dealership or industrial settings; familiarity with Caterpillar or similar OEM brands is highly desirable. Strong mechanical knowledge across diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC systems, and electrical diagnostics. Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; ability to read schematics accurately. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic software for automotive/equipment diagnostics, and maintenance procedures. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy machinery such as excavators or forklifts when necessary. Excellent service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members and management alike. Valid certifications in service technician fields experience is a plus.
