Road/Shop Mechanic (Heavy Equipment and Small Equipment)

Full-Time A Day in the Life Keep critical equipment running at peak performance by diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment, small equipment, and various construction machinery. From concrete saws and generators to heavy equipment like Bobcat, Caterpillar, Takeuchi, and John Deere machines, you'll play a hands-on role in keeping operations moving. Own your workflow in the shop by reviewing work orders, planning repairs, and executing both preventative maintenance and complex diagnostics. You'll troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, ensuring equipment is safe, compliant, and job ready. Your day may also include responding to urgent field repairs, test-driving equipment to confirm performance, and guiding team members on proper equipment use and care. Attention to detail, independence, and pride in your work will set you up for success. What You'll Do Perform preventative maintenance and major repairs on construction equipment big and small. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and emissions systems Work on equipment including Bobcat, Caterpillar, Takeuchi, and John Deere machinery. Inspect and service key systems such as brakes, steering, suspension, exhaust, and air brake systems Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, fluid checks, tire inspections, balancing, and alignments Read and interpret work orders, perform consultations, and develop effective repair plans Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot engine fault codes, wiring issues, and system failures Repair or replace components such as engines, transmissions, and related parts Follow inspection checklists and ensure all critical systems are properly evaluated Maintain accurate work orders, documentation, and repair estimates Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper performance and safety Respond to field service calls and emergency breakdowns as needed Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Occasional overtime or schedule flexibility may be required based on business needs Required Experience & Qualifications Mechanical experience in heavy construction equipment. Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanic experience (no apprenticeships) Experience with diesel engines, small engines, and construction equipment Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to pass background checks and drug screening Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Must have your own tools Equipment Construction Certification (preferred) Physical Requirements Lift up to 75 lbs.
