The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and mechanical repair, with experience working on motors, pumps, and various types of rotating equipment. This role requires strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Candidates with machining experience will have the opportunity to perform precision repair work in-house Responsibilities Inspect incoming motors, pumps, gearboxes, and blowers to determine cause of failure. Perform mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting using test equipment and hand tools. Measure and record critical dimensions (shafts, housings, bearings, clearances, runout, etc.). Identify worn, damaged, or out-of-tolerance components and recommend repairs or replacements. Provide clear, accurate failure analysis and communicate findings to management. Repair & Rebuild Work Disassemble motors, pumps, gearboxes, and blowers in an organized manner, tagging and documenting parts. Clean and prepare parts using appropriate methods (solvent tank, pressure washing, blasting, etc.). Replace and fit bearings, seals, gaskets, shafts, impellers, wear rings, and other components. Perform precision fits, alignments, and adjustments to manufacturer specifications or best practices. Assist with or perform motor reconditioning tasks (baking, cleaning stators/rotors, basic winding prep). Reassemble equipment according to specifications, drawings, and shop standards. Use proper torque values and assembly techniques to ensure reliability and long service life. Testing & Quality Control Perform no-load and/or functional testing of repaired motors and pumps as applicable. Verify rotation, basic vibration levels, temperature, and other performance parameters. Check for leaks, abnormal noise, or other issues prior to releasing equipment. Complete all work to meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards. Shop Practices & Documentation Complete work orders with detailed notes on diagnosis, repairs performed, parts used, and measurements. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and proper PPE usage. Assist with inventory of common repair parts, bearings, seals, and hardware. Work with office/management to provide repair estimates and timelines when needed. Machinist Capabilities (Huge Plus) Not required, but highly valued.
Candidates with machining experience may:
Operate manual lathes and milling machines to repair or modify shafts, sleeves, and housings This position is ideal for a motivated mechanic with comprehensive technical skills seeking a challenging role in equipment repair and maintenance.
Pay:
$25.00 - $40.00 per hour
