CORE EQUIPMENT GROUP JOB DESCRIPTION
Lube Technician Position Lube Technician Reports To Branch Manager Department Service In-Person / Remote In-Person Exemption Status Non-Exempt Safety Sensitive Yes Non-Union / Union Dependent Upon Location Subordinates None Job Outline Performs preventative maintenance and lubrication services on customer equipment at their locations or job sites. Operates a mobile lube truck to deliver timely, high-quality oil changes and multi-point inspections in accordance with manufacturer and company guidelines. Works to reduce customer equipment downtime and supports the service department in achieving productivity and quality goals. Essential Duties Performs preventative maintenance services on all makes and models of heavy equipment at customer locations and job sites; completes lube services accurately and efficiently within industry-standard times and in accordance with manufacturer requirements and service intervals. Safely performs routine maintenance tasks including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning heavy equipment; changes oil, filters, and grease on various types of equipment and trucks. Drives and maintains a mobile lube truck in an organized, clean, and safe manner; operates and maintains all lubrication equipment in good working condition. Performs multi-point inspections on each machine serviced; conducts machine inspections to identify required repairs and performs minor repairs as qualified. Inspects oil, cabin, and air filters and vehicle fluid levels; replaces or replenishes as necessary; checks tire pressures and adds air as needed. Accurately prepares and maintains all required documentation in a timely manner, including work orders, parts requests, parts lists, time cards, logs, and pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections. Provides value-added services to reduce customer equipment downtime; travels to customer sites, dealer facilities, or OEM facilities for work or training as needed. Follows all manufacturer and OEM service guidelines, timeframe requirements, and company policies. Maintains current knowledge of equipment brands served and competitive products; completes manufacturer and company training programs as assigned. Operates all tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner; maintains a clean work area and follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments. Achieves production objectives set by management. Assists the service department as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager. Specific Requirements Ability to perform oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and multi-point inspections on heavy equipment and vehicles. Familiarity with preventative maintenance schedules and OEM service requirements. Ability to operate and maintain a mobile lube truck safely and responsibly. Valid driver's license required; clean driving record preferred. Ability to read and follow service manuals, inspection checklists, and work order documentation. Basic proficiency with computer-based tools for recording and tracking service work. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required. Previous experience servicing equipment and/or vehicles preferred. Valid driver's license required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and crouch for extended periods while performing maintenance tasks. Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of items up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting up to 75 pounds with assistance. Ability to work in confined spaces, under equipment, and in varying weather conditions at customer sites. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate tools, lubrication equipment, and electronic devices. Adequate vision and hearing to perform inspections, operate equipment, and communicate effectively in a shop or field environment. Work Environment This position is primarily performed at customer locations, job sites, and in the field operating a mobile lube truck. The work environment includes regular exposure to outdoor conditions, noise, dust, grease, machinery, and varying temperatures. The employee is frequently required to work in outdoor and shop-type settings typical of heavy equipment operation and maintenance environments.
