We are seeking a reliable, motivated, and hands-on Assistant Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of our fleet and specialized underground utility equipment. This position is available on either a part-time or full-time basis and offers an excellent opportunity for someone with mechanical experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Assist with routine maintenance and repairs on bore machines, trucks, trailers, and related equipment Help diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues Perform preventative maintenance to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently Maintain accurate service and repair records Keep tools, equipment, and work areas organized and clean Assist with welding, fabrication, and equipment modifications as needed Help ensure all equipment is safe and ready for daily operations Qualifications Previous dealership, automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment repair experience preferred Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Experience with automotive diagnostics, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and read repair schematics Knowledge of vehicle maintenance including oil changes, brake repairs, tire service, suspension work, and general repairs Experience working on construction, utility, or underground installation equipment is a plus Familiarity with fiber optic bore machines and underground utility equipment preferred Ability to work safely and follow established shop safety procedures Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is dependable, takes pride in their work, works well with others, and is willing to learn and grow within the company. Experience with fiber optic boring equipment is highly valued, but we are willing to train the right individual with a strong mechanical background.
