The Lead Mechanic is responsible for performing advanced diagnostic, repair, and maintenance work on agricultural and industrial equipment both in the shop and at customer locations. This role also oversees job documentation, parts tracking, warranty processes, and ensures all service work is completed efficiently, accurately, and to company standards. This is a full-time position with overtime available. Responsibilities:
Service & Repair Perform customer repairs both in the shop and on-site as needed Ensure all repairs are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and system-related issues Maintain high-quality workmanship on all service jobs Job Documentation & Workflow Create a Sales Order for each job performed Ensure Sales Orders are created for all parts ordered (inventory and customer jobs) Create Purchase Orders when parts arrive and properly receive inventory Track all labor time daily and apply it to the appropriate Sales Order Add pickup and delivery charges to customer invoices when applicable Warranty Claims Ensure all required warranty documentation is completed accurately, including: VIN number Photos of error codes or diagnostic results (D-Tech or dashboard codes) Photos of failed parts Product numbers of failed parts Complete warranty claims through manufacturer warranty systems according to specifications Equipment & Maintenance Responsibilities Notify management of any specialty tools or equipment needed to complete jobs Report equipment breakdowns promptly and accurately Complete daily pre-trip inspection forms for service vehicles Coordinate outsourcing of repairs when work is beyond facility capability Update D-Tech service tool weekly Assist in developing service plans for company rolling stock Support annual maintenance program scheduling and tracking Cleanliness & Closing Procedures Clean work area at the completion of each project Ensure all cleanup time is properly billed to customer or warranty claims when applicable
Qualifications:
Strong mechanical and diagnostic experience in agricultural or heavy equipment Experience with shop and field service repairs Familiarity with service documentation systems and work order tracking Ability to use diagnostic tools such as D-Tech or similar systems Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobs Strong communication and customer service skills Must be able to lift 50 lbs Valid driver's license with DOT medical card preferred Willingness to learn new systems and manufacturer procedures
