Job Description

AIS Construction Equipment is the oldest Michigan-owned and operated heavy equipment company in the state, proudly serving customers for 65 years. We are seeking a full-time, experienced Service Technician to join our Traverse City team. At AIS, you'll be part of a team that values safety, skill, and growth. If you're a motivated technician with a strong mechanical aptitude and years of hands-on experience, we'd love to hear from you! Responsibilities Perform diagnostics, repair, and maintenance on off-road heavy equipment Service and repair diesel engines, braking systems, drivelines (clutch, flywheel, transmissions, and differentials), steering mechanisms, and suspensions Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems, along with other mechanical components Perform welding, cutting, and fabricating as needed Complete preventative maintenance such as oil changes, battery replacement, and lubrication Requisition necessary parts and arrange equipment or trucking for repairs Accurately document work and update job notes daily using a tablet/laptop Requirements 18 years of age or older High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license Heavy equipment repair training or equivalent hands-on experience At least 5 years of technical experience Experience with heavy equipment/diesel technology Ability to use hands for grasping, turning, pulling, and other mechanical tasks Comfortable working on uneven surfaces, frequently climbing ladders, and working at various heights Able to work in environments with loud noise, fumes, and heavy machinery, as well as stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods Must pass a background/credit check and drug screening Benefits 401(k) with generous employer match Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and prescription insurance Paid vacation, holidays, and sick days Advancement opportunities within the company Paid training provided by certified in-house instructors Company-provided uniforms Bonus opportunities
