From major collision restoration and liftgate installations to intricate beverage body refurbishing, Kolstad keeps our customers safely on the road. Position Overview Kolstad is seeking a skilled, reliable, and detail-oriented Service Technician / Trailer Mechanic to join our team in Blaine, MN. In this role, you will play a critical part in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining semi-trailers, box trucks, and specialized commercial equipment. If you have a strong mechanical aptitude, solid experience with heavy-duty diagnostics, welding, and body repairs, and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship, we want you on our team!
Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Diagnostics:
Perform comprehensive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on semi-trailers and box trucks, focusing on air brakes, electrical systems, and structural integrity.
Body & Component Repair:
Align, fit, and secure panels, structural frames, and custom components. Repair and rebuild damaged box truck bodies and trailers.
Fabrication & Welding:
Perform welding, cutting, and metal fabrication (MIG/TIG) as needed for heavy-duty installations, custom upfits, and structural repairs.
Equipment Upfitting:
Expertly mount, install, and calibrate hydraulic liftgates, side gates, and custom heavy-duty mounting hardware onto vehicle chassis.
Inspections & Documentation:
Accurately document all repair work performed and parts used. (Ability to perform formal DOT inspections is considered an asset)
Safety & Workplace Excellence:
Maintain a clean and safe shop environment, strictly adhering to all company safety policies and Minnesota AWAIR program standards.
Qualifications and Skills Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in semi-trailer maintenance, heavy-duty repair, commercial truck upfitting, or structural metal fabrication. Proven proficiency in servicing Air Brakes and Electrical Systems. Strong skills in welding (MIG/TIG) and operating standard shop power and fabrication tools.
Physical Capability:
Strong attention to detail and the physical ability to perform heavy-duty shop tasks, lifting, and continuous manual labor.
Work Ethic:
Reliable, team-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision to meet production and repair deadlines. Certified or qualified to perform DOT Inspections considered an asset.
Pay:
$25.00 - $38.00 per hour
