Job Title:
Mechanic II Job Description The Mechanic II repairs and maintains a fleet of specialized Truss Drivers, which are customized drill rigs used to install foundations for utility-scale solar farms. This role focuses on diagnosing mechanical issues, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently in alignment with established health, safety, and environmental standards. The Mechanic II uses quality control analysis to evaluate equipment performance and supports continuous improvement of machine reliability and functionality. Responsibilities Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components on Truss Drivers and related heavy equipment. Maintain and restore the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment. Perform preventive and unscheduled maintenance on Truss Drivers and applicable support equipment to minimize downtime. Complete on-site metal fabrication work as needed to support equipment repairs and modifications. Provide technical support and assistance to customer mechanics when required. Reassemble equipment after inspections, testing, or repairs to ensure proper fit and function. Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy and safety of repairs. Record all repairs and maintenance performed, including hours worked, parts used, and travel details. Repair and replace damaged or worn parts to extend equipment life and maintain reliability. Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications. Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles to keep them in optimal condition. Read and interpret operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings to guide repair and maintenance activities. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test tools and calibration devices to determine required repairs. Collaborate with Machine Development, Product Development, and Field Applications Engineering teams to provide feedback and support product improvements. Recognize and promptly report safety concerns to help maintain a safe work environment. Continuously learn and improve personal technical skillsets to stay current with evolving equipment and technologies. Document equipment issues and repairs clearly and accurately, including hours, parts used, and travel details. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role primarily operates in an outdoor yard environment working on heavy equipment and specialized drill rigs. You will work around large diesel-powered machinery, hydraulics, and industrial tools, often in varying weather conditions typical of outdoor construction and equipment yards. The position involves hands-on mechanical work, including lifting components, using welding and fabrication equipment, and operating diagnostic tools and computerized test equipment. Work hours may align with construction or jobsite schedules, requiring flexibility to support preventive and unscheduled maintenance needs in the field. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Las Vegas, NV. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
