Job Description

Position Objective The Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs skilled mechanical and maintenance work on heavy trucks and equipment, including vacuum trucks, tractors, and trailers. This role combines technical expertise with hands-on shop support to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. Job Responsibilities Diagnose and repair heavy trucks and equipment, including performing scheduled preventative maintenance Complete annual inspections on trucks and trailers Conduct inspections and run-ups for new and sale trucks Operate and maintain shop equipment safely and efficiently Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with general shop needs Perform other related duties as assigned Requirements High school diploma or equivalent CDL License preferred, or acquired within 6 months after hire Previous experience with diesel, electrical, and hydraulic systems required Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity Must have a complete set of hand tools Ability to lift 50+ pounds infrequently Ability to stand, stoop, crouch, bend, and climb short ladders repeatedly Experience operating and maintaining machinery and equipment What We Offer Annual tool allowance Company-provided uniforms Ongoing training and development opportunities Safety eyewear and boot voucher program A collaborative and safety-focused work environment The Way We Work Take ownership and responsibility for identifying and implementing innovative solutions that improve JDC's operations and customer satisfaction Deliver exceptional internal and external customer service Communicate effectively, foster collaboration, and contribute to a positive team culture aligned with JDC's mission and values Maintain professionalism and respect in all interactions, both internally and externally The individual in this position will interact regularly with employees and managers in other departments and locations at Jack Doheny Company.
