Job Title:
Heavy Equipment Mechanic- Job Description
- The Heavy Equipment Mechanic diagnoses, repairs, and maintains a wide range of heavy equipment and diesel-powered machinery, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role combines advanced mechanical troubleshooting, accurate quoting, and the use of diagnostic software and databases to deliver high-quality service in both shop and field environments.
- Responsibilities
- + Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and powertrain issues on heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, and other diesel-powered machinery.
DBS, SIMS, SIS
Web, STW, and similar tools. + Follow contamination control procedures and comply with all HAZMAT rules and regulations during maintenance and repair activities. + Use laptops, diagnostic software, basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring instruments, cranes, and rigging equipment safely and effectively. + Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and write routine reports and correspondence as needed. + Adhere to all company policies and established safety and quality standards at all times. + Complete all Level I, II, and III assigned training in a timely and proficient manner to maintain and enhance technical capabilities. + Mentor and support other machine team members by sharing technical knowledge, best practices, and safe work methods. + Operate a field vehicle when assigned, in compliance with driving and safety requirements. + Obtain and maintain required certifications, including MSHA (as needed), forklift and man lift operation (as needed), air-conditioning certification, and any other role-related credentials. + Participate in required assessments, including Work Steps assessment, and comply with any applicable DOT physical requirements. + Work flexible schedules, including shift work, required overtime, and on-call assignments, particularly for field service roles. + Support fleet service operations by performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on a variety of customer and company equipment.- Essential Skills
- + Proven experience in mechanical repair of heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, and other construction machinery.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- + Associate's degree or certificate in diesel technology or a similar mechanical discipline (preferred but not required).
