Mechanic II Portland, OR | $40/hour | Full-Time | Union Local 1432 | Monday-Friday Day Shift Are you an experienced industrial mechanic looking for a stable, union position with a predictable weekday schedule? Radius Recycling is seeking a skilled Mechanic II to join our Portland team. This is a hands-on opportunity to work on a variety of heavy mobile and industrial equipment in a fast-paced recycling operation. You'll play a critical role in keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently while working alongside an experienced maintenance team in a safety-focused environment. What You'll Do Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment and industrial machinery Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on mobile and stationary equipment Repair and replace worn, damaged, or malfunctioning components Troubleshoot hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and diesel-powered systems Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical drawings Perform equipment testing to verify repairs and proper operation Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records Support production and operations teams by responding to maintenance needs Contribute to a safe workplace by following all company safety policies and procedures What We're Looking For Required High School Diploma or GED Minimum of 5 years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment, diesel equipment, fleet vehicles, or industrial machinery Valid driver's license Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently and safely in an industrial environment Preferred Associate degree in Heavy Equipment Repair, Diesel Technology, or a related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience Experience with hydraulics, conveyors, crushers, material handlers, loaders, excavators, or other heavy equipment Welding and fabrication experience Industrial maintenance, recycling, aggregate, mining, construction, or manufacturing experience Work Environment This position is based in an active recycling and heavy industrial facility. Team members work around large equipment and are regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, noise, dust, and other industrial elements. Proper personal protective equipment is provided and required.
Physical requirements include:
