What is Expected of You in this Role Forklift Mechanic is an operations position responsible for the maintenance of our fleet of forklifts and industrial equipment. This hands-on position plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and operational efficiency. Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on propane, diesel, and electric-powered forklifts.
Conduct pre-use and post-use inspections to ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, service logs, and parts usage.
Collaborate with operations leadership and equipment operators to proactively address any performance issues.
Support additional operational projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a team-first mindset.
Compliance with all safety rules, work instructions, OSHA requirements, and PPE requirements (steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, work gloves)
Keep the work area clean/organized, and work cooperatively with other team members
Perform other operational tasks as assigned
Requirements What are the Job Requirements? Direct forklift mechanic skills as through a combination of work experience and certification: hands-on experience repairing and maintaining forklifts and related equipment
Work experience in an industrial yard or lumber/mill environment a plus What Are the Physical Demands? Ability to operate and perform maintenance of forklift and related equipment: Ability to operate equipment controls including levers, pedals, gears, and steering mechanisms. Ability to operate hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to regularly lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, squatting, and lifting.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity; ability to accurately assess weights/distances/heights; vision for distance, close-up, and distinguishing colors.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Ability to work in an outdoor lumberyard and open warehouse settings with varying temperatures
Exposure to noise, dust, and moving machinery that are typical of a lumber mill operation. What You Bring Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and high standards
Ability to work the assigned shift (11:00 AM to 7:30 PM) and OT; consistent attendance and punctuality
Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment with accuracy and precision
Attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to follow instructions; problem solving and assessment skills
Focus on workplace safety; ability to work with safety protocols in an industrial setting
