Job Description

Mechanic- Pavement Marking Operations Job Summary The Pavement Marking Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining pavement marking and striping equipment used in roadway construction and maintenance operations. This includes paint trucks, thermoplastic equipment, grinders, sweepers, compressors, hydraulic systems, trailers, and support vehicles. The mechanic ensures equipment is safe, reliable, and production-ready to support daily operations. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on pavement marking and roadway striping equipment. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on trucks and specialized equipment.
Repair and maintain:
Paint trucks Thermoplastic trucks and handliners Air compressors Hydraulic pumps and motors Grinders and sweepers Trailers and support equipment Troubleshoot striping systems including paint pumps, bead systems, spray guns, and heating systems. Conduct daily equipment inspections and complete repair documentation. Respond to field breakdowns and emergency repair calls as needed. Coordinate with operations personnel to prioritize equipment readiness. Ensure all work complies with company safety standards and DOT regulations. Maintain clean and organized shop and work areas. Assist with fabrication and welding repairs when necessary. Operate service vehicles and forklifts safely. Required Qualifications 3+ years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment, diesel engines, or roadway construction equipment preferred. Experience with pavement marking or striping equipment strongly preferred.
Knowledge of:
Diesel engines Hydraulics Electrical systems Welding and fabrication Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot equipment issues. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred or ability to obtain. Ability to work overtime, nights, and weekends during peak season.
