Position Summary Redline Gear Cleaning of the Rocky Mountains is seeking an independent contractor to provide mobile firefighter PPE cleaning, inspection, and equipment-support services at customer locations. The contractor will assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of Redline's Mobile Extraction Unit (MEU), process firefighter protective equipment, and maintain accurate service records. Qualified contractors may also transport and operate the MEU. Assignments are offered based on customer demand and may involve weekday, evening, weekend, overnight, and out-of-town work. The contractor may accept or decline assignments subject to the terms of the independent contractor agreement. Primary Responsibilities Safely set up, operate, and break down mobile cleaning and inspection equipment. Receive, identify, scan, inventory, and organize firefighter PPE. Disassemble firefighter turnout gear and related equipment before processing. Clean and inspect PPE according to Redline procedures, manufacturer requirements, and applicable NFPA standards. Identify and document damage, contamination, wear, expiration, and recommended repairs. Reassemble gear accurately and confirm that all components are returned to the correct firefighter or department. Enter service information into Redline's computer-based inventory and reporting system. Maintain an orderly, professional, and safe work area at customer locations. Clean and maintain tools, equipment, work surfaces, and the MEU. Monitor and report equipment, supply, maintenance, or safety concerns. Communicate professionally with Redline personnel, fire department representatives, and other contractors. Follow customer-site requirements and all applicable safety procedures. Protect confidential customer, firefighter, and equipment information. When authorized and properly licensed, complete vehicle inspections, fuel and transport the MEU, and maintain required driving documentation. Minimum Qualifications At least 18 years of age. Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Ability to pass any background screening and drug testing required by customer contracts or applicable law. Ability to learn firefighter PPE cleaning, inspection, documentation, and handling procedures. Basic computer and mobile-device proficiency. Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures and safety instructions. Reliable transportation to designated reporting or service locations. Dependable, honest, detail-oriented, and committed to producing accurate work. Willingness and ability to travel and stay overnight when an accepted assignment requires it. Preferred Experience Commercial driving, equipment operation, warehouse, laundry, restoration, manufacturing, maintenance, or fire-service experience. Experience handling firefighter PPE or other regulated safety equipment. Familiarity with NFPA 1850 or similar inspection and documentation standards. Physical and Working Requirements The contractor must be able to: Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and perform repetitive hand movements. Regularly lift and carry firefighter gear, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work in and around a mobile service vehicle and temporary outdoor work areas. Work in varying temperatures, weather conditions, noise levels, and wet environments. Safely use cleaning products, tools, machinery, and required personal protective equipment. Remain on their feet for extended periods during active assignments. Independent Contractor Relationship This is an independent contractor opportunity and not an offer of employment. The contractor will provide services under a written independent contractor agreement and will be responsible for applicable taxes, insurance, licenses, and business expenses except where otherwise stated in that agreement. Assignment availability and compensation will be communicated before work is accepted.
