MECHANIC
Job Description:
The Mechanic performs a variety of tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and safety of all equipment that Parsec utilizes in its day-to-day operations. This includes, but is not limited to, heavy lift equipment, automobiles, trailing equipment, and other miscellaneous equipment. As a mechanic, you would perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a variety of equipment to maximize utilization and minimize downtime. This role also includes maintaining all digital and hard copy maintenance records, ordering and tracking parts, as well as communicating equipment status and needs daily with superiors.
Wage:
$24.00 to $34.00 hourly based on experience, tooling and capabilities.
Mechanic Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections of equipment to identify any potential problems or hazards. Repair or replace damaged or worn-out equipment parts. Conduct safety assessments and ensure that equipment complies with national and company safety standards. Carry out preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns and increase the longevity of equipment. Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical problems. Document maintenance and repair work, including details of issues identified and actions taken. Communicate with operators to understand any issues they may be experiencing. Order parts and supplies necessary for maintenance work. Inspect equipment for damage or failures, perform diagnostics, and repair service for component failures. Remove and replace damaged or defective components, and operate support equipment including forklifts, man lifts, and service trucks. Clean the shop area and perform stocking functions. All work must be performed in a safe and efficient manner.
Qualifications:
All mechanics should have basic knowledge of air brake systems, diesel engine diagnostics using Insite, hydraulic systems, electronic controls, electrical circuitry, schematics, and basic knowledge of diesel engine repair. Basic welding skills. Ability to diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment. Test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions. Read and interpret diagnostic test results from diagnostic equipment such as Cummins Insite. Previous experience using hydraulic jacks or hoists to raise trucks and heavy parts or equipment. Previous experience inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other parts of vehicles. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Possess personal mechanic tools. Experience with maintaining equipment in either the construction, transportation, or intermodal industry. Mi-Jack or Taylor manufacture brand experience is a plus. Able to document repairs according to an established reporting system, verbally and in writing. Perform light welding when required. Other duties as assigned. Must be willing to complete a drug screen, physical, and background check.
Physical Job Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, balancing while walking on elevated catwalks, bending, and grasping. Occasional sitting, kneeling, squatting, twisting, reaching, and lifting, with the ability to lift more than 50 lbs.
