Job Overview The Rental Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, refurbishing, and preparing rental equipment to ensure it is safe and ready for customer use. This role also includes performing equipment deliveries and pickups, responding to service calls at customer job sites, maintaining the yard and shop, and delivering excellent customer service. The position is critical to minimizing equipment downtime, extending asset life, and providing a positive experience for customers in the equipment rental industry. Occasional travel for deliveries and field service is required. Duties Equipment Maintenance & Repair Perform incoming and outgoing inspections to identify damage, wear, and needed repairs. Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues on construction and industrial equipment. Perform preventive maintenance, routine service, and complex repairs on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, electrical systems, tracks, and attachments. Repair or replace parts using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and welding tools as needed. Refurbish equipment, including cosmetic repairs, painting, and component replacements to return equipment to rental-ready condition. Test equipment after repairs or refurbishment to ensure proper and safe operation. Field Service & Deliveries Respond to service calls by traveling to customer job sites to diagnose and repair equipment in the field. Perform equipment deliveries and pickups, including loading, unloading, and transporting equipment. Properly secure loads on trailers following FMCSA and DOT cargo securement regulations and best practices. Provide on-site support and basic troubleshooting during deliveries and service calls. Yard & Shop Operations Maintain organization and cleanliness of the yard and shop area. Assist with inventory management of parts, tools, and equipment. Ensure equipment is properly stored and staged for rental or transport. Customer Service & Documentation Interact professionally with customers during deliveries, pickups, and service calls. Answer basic equipment operation questions and address customer concerns. Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and maintenance documentation in the company system. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and manufacturer guidelines. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment, or a related field preferred. 2+ years of experience repairing heavy equipment, construction machinery, or similar equipment (field service or rental industry experience is a plus). Strong knowledge of diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrains. Ability to read schematics and service manuals and use diagnostic tools. Welding and fabrication skills preferred. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required. CDL Class A or B preferred. Must own a basic set of mechanic tools; specialty tools and shop equipment provided by the company. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs, work on your feet for extended periods, and work in shop, yard, and outdoor environments. Ability to work independently while on service calls with minimal supervision. Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to provide good customer service. Must be willing to travel locally and regionally as needed for deliveries and service calls (company vehicle provided when applicable). Preferred Skills Experience with common rental equipment brands (Bobcat, Kubota, Genie, JLG, Ditch Witch, etc.). Previous experience performing field service calls or equipment deliveries. regulations. ASE certifications or manufacturer-specific training (Caterpillar, John Deere, Kubota, Genie, JLG, etc.). Basic computer skills for work order and maintenance documentation.

Pay:

$24.00 - $35.00 per hour
