Job Description

A leading national heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join their team in Miami, FL. This is a shop-based position with some local project coverage as needed - you're home every night . The ideal candidate will have strong experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipment , with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and keep a heavy construction fleet operating safely and efficiently. Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to identify potential equipment issues before they cause downtime
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Repair, replace, or rebuild components as needed
  • Perform field repairs and maintenance on local construction jobsites
  • Work closely with equipment operators, field personnel, and management to minimize equipment downtime
  • Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
  • Maintain tools, service vehicles, and work areas in a clean and organized condition
  • Follow company safety procedures and equipment manufacturer guidelines Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction equipment
  • Strong hands-on experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diesel engines , with the ability to identify complex equipment problems and determine the appropriate repair
  • Experience working on equipment such as excavators, loaders, cranes, dozers, compactors, generators, foundation drill rigs, pile driving equipment, or other heavy construction equipment
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics
  • Experience using electronic diagnostic equipment and diagnostic software
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and make sound repair decisions in the field What They Offer
