Job Description

The Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic is responsible for the repair of heavy construction equipment, component assemblies, and parts, on construction job sites. This includes diagnosing, troubleshooting, parts ordering, maintenance & repair of company assets, and proper communication with others and ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement in a time-efficient and cost-effective manner.
Essential Functions:

Performs proficient inspection, diagnosis, and moderately complex repair of heavy equipment. Identifies mechanical problems visually and/or with computer diagnostic equipment Records and reports all diagnostic & repairs performed on equipment in work orders. Orders and installs replacement parts for heavy mobile equipment. Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines. Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently. Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains Mechanic truck, parts, tools, and supplies. Maintains a safe work area in compliance with Company/OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Other related tasks as assigned
Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Four (4) years of relevant work experience. Must be at least 18 years of age. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required. Prompt, regular, and predictable attendance The ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, and ladders, and lift weights up to 60 pounds. The ability to work in a varied outdoor environment (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy) Extensive knowledge of all aspects of heavy equipment and repair. Proficient with related computer diagnostic equipment and software. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues. Ability to read service and repair manuals. Ability to read work orders. Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
