Job Description

Overview We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team, providing expert maintenance and repair services for a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with various types of heavy equipment, and the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex systems. This role offers an excellent opportunity for technicians with dealership experience, OEM familiarity, or a background in automotive diagnostics and fabrication to advance their careers in a dynamic environment. Duties Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and farm machinery. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools. Repair or replace transmissions, brakes, suspensions, air brakes, hydraulics, and alignments on various machinery. Conduct welding, soldering, fabrication, and assembly work as needed to restore equipment functionality. Utilize power tools and hand tools for disassembly and reassembly of components. Operate diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot engine problems such as diesel engines or HVAC systems. Maintain detailed service records and ensure compliance with OEM specifications. Assist in the installation of new equipment or upgrades on heavy machinery and vehicles. Ensure safety standards are adhered to during all repair activities and perform heavy lifting when required. Qualifications Proven experience working as a mechanic or service technician with heavy equipment or industrial machinery. Dealership experience preferred; familiarity with Caterpillar, OEM parts, or similar brands is highly advantageous. Strong mechanical knowledge of transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC systems, and electrical diagnostics. Experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering. Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex systems. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and vehicle maintenance procedures. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation is a plus; must be comfortable working with excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, or farm machinery. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with customer service orientation. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments. High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in diesel engine repair or automotive repair is preferred.
