Job Description

1st shift- start time will vary 6-8am- 10hours shift In a sterile work environment, process prepared material transferred from previous (1st Wash) station: Remove unwanted material from container.
BASIC SUMMARY
Responsible for extracting blood from the Horseshoe Crab.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inspect and verify crabs for injuries and unresponsiveness prior to blood extraction.
  • Extract blood from racked crabs using a 12 gauge needle
  • Collect blood into bottles and deliver to the laboratory.
  • Daily housekeeping responsibilities including but not limited to: cleaning walls, floor and tables within the tent area.
  • Responsible for proficiency in all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in areas of responsibility.
  • Responsible for documentation as required by company policy, cGMP and FDA.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

        PHYSICAL DEMANDS
        • Tasks require full range of motion of arms and upper body.

        WORK ENVIRONMENT
        • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly wears protective clothing (goggles, face shield, surgical mask, cap, gloves, scrubs, boots)
        • The employee regularly works with or near sharp objects, caustic chemicals, biohazards, live animals.
        • The employee could occasionally be exposed to allergens (shellfish), unpleasant odors, wet/humid and/or warm temperature conditions
        • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate Add prepared washing solution to container and agitate thoroughly.
        Dispense agitated material into plastic tubes for centrifugation. Centrifuge material to separate desired material in container from washing solution. Assess quantity of desired material in plastic tubes according to measuring lines present on the tubes. Add sterile water to tubes according to amount of desired material present in each tube. Agitate tubes.
        Saline:
        In a sterile work environment: Assemble transfer pump equipment. Prepare salt water solution and accurately dispense it into 500 mL bottles using prepared equipment.
        NEM:
        In a sterile work environment: Assemble transfer pump equipment. Verify accuracy of weighing equipment (balance). Prepare NEM solution and accurately dispense it into 500 mL bottles using prepared equipment.

        N-ethylmaleimide. The max pay rate is $18/hr for this position
